Comments: While searching for decendents of the John Emerson Wing family (Wayne County, NY)I was overwhelmed with the information you have accumulated. I have tried to tie our family with yours, but seem to missing a link. I was able to find one marriage of Harry Earll Wing to Helena M. Griffith, dated 16 June, 1904, although I was informed that this is not a connection. Our family starts with John Emerson having wed with one son (Vernon, of Sodus, with 2 children; Bill and Erma) remarrying to my grandmother Mildred Lester (Already with 2 daughters, one being married to the Hamelink's of Marion). Their marriage continued with three more children; Merrill (of Macedon, no children) Francis (married to Wilbur Barnhart of Lyons, 5 children) and the youngest, James Alfred (my father; with 4 children) until her death in 1962. John lived to be 90 years old, passing in 1973. If we are related to your family, I would like to know how we fit in. If not, I would like find the other route to England. Sincerely, Kathy.

I've been actively seeking the father of Conent Cook. She married Giles Wing in Danby, Rutland, Vermont. I'm thinking that Daniel Cook is her father, but haven't been able to prove it yet. 1. Stephen M. Davis (pre-Revolutionary War)
2. Isaac Van (or Von, I've seen it both ways) Norman (b-1775) and
Mercy Rogers Davis. They went to Canada sometime before 1800 since their son Orange Runnels was born in Quebec. The family eventually moved to New York 1838, then on to Pike County, SW Illinois near the Mississippi River in 1839, and then to the shores of Lake Emily in the Kasota/St.Peter/Cleveland area Kasota Township, Minnesota in 1853. They came to Minnesota with the Pettis family and many Davis children married Pettis children.
3. Orange Runnels (b-1800) and Adelaide Barlow Davis (both buried in
Woodlawn Cemetery, St. Peter, Minn.)
4. Issac Van Norman (b-1835, 7th of 12 children, and Catherine Pettis Davis (my tie to the Pettis clan). They are buried at the Savidge Lake Cemetery two miles west of Cleveland, Minn.
5. William Frederick (b-1856) and Hattie Dickie Davis (his 2nd wife

I believe we have a common relative, Sarah Ann Swain. She was married to Henry Mitchell, one of the sons of Thomas Mitchell and Elizabeth Williams, in New Bedford on May 20, 1857 (Mass Vital Records, 1857, Marriage, vol. 108, p 131, #114). The 1847 birth date for her does not appear to be a good fit with her marriage date. I do not have a birth record for her or an exact date of birth, but census records (1860-r90,p1037; 1870-r114,p522; 1880-r107,p120A) suggest 1838 or 39 as a birth date. I have seen the 1847 birth date error in several other places and think it came from the LDS disk with these records on it. Yantic cemetery burial records in Norwich, Connecticut indicate she died on March 24th of 1920 and was buried on the 26th, at the age of 82. I think the marriage date you suggest has been confused with he burial date. The burial date and age at death also confirm the 1838 date of birth. Finally, her obituary appeared in the March 26, 1920 issue of the Norwich Bulletin.

According to the official DOD list of Vietnam casualties from Mississippi one of the 667 casualities from this state was PFC Ellsworth I. Davis Jr., Marine Corps, DOB 10 Dec 1944, KIA 09 Dec 1966. His home of record according to DOD was Vicksburg, Warren County, Mississippi.
Our Memorial presently has the pictures of all but 92 of this states Vietnam casualties laser etched in granite on the Memorial. PFC Davis is one of those that we have not been able to locate a photograph of. Any assistance that you might be able to provide in aiding us to locate a picture of PFC Davis would be greatly appreciated.

Comments: I have spent a long, long time researching my family and this is a very good site! Through all the yrs. of searching records, places, libraries and such, Toni has a very good handle on the Wing family. Koodos, and I appreciate all the loose ends that this site has helped tie up. I only have one that is still haunting me! I descend from Cynthia Benedict and Jehial Wing. I have Cynthia way......back, but I am still at a standstill with Jehial's parents. No where have I found ANY information of who were his parents!! I know where he was married and by Wm. Smart in Canada, I know when he died and where in Iowa and where he is buried, I have all his children,grandchildren, etc. But in the past 20 yrs. no one has been able to tell me who his parents were. Was he the son of another of Gershom's sons? Did he marry his cousin? If someone can help I would sure appreciate it. All I know is he was married in Canada to Cynthia.

Comments: Thanks for all the great information on the Weekes family of Harwich, MA family. This was the first (and the most attractive) site I've found with that information. I'm looking for info on William Penny who Married Deborah Weekes Penny then moved to Southeast, New York (now called Brewster). He seems to have appeared out of nowhere about 1711, and I can't seem to trace him to the Long Island Penney's.

There are Family names in Brewster, NY, which also appear in Harwich and Brewster, MA. It seems like a piece of the community spawned off and started fresh in New York in the early 18th century. I'd love to learn more from letters, etc... that would explain how that happened.

I am one of many of the great grandsons of Sarah Alice Wing, the daughter of Samuel Joseph Wing, the son of Mathias Wing. Up to this point we have never known much about our Wing family heritage. Either not much was known or for some reason no one wanted to talk about it. So I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have learned to love Amy Pettis for her perseverence and fortitude. I am proud that she is my ancestor.
Some of you struggle with the fact that Joseph Smith Wing was a poligamist and that I can understand. Samuel Joseph Wing was also a poligamist and his family including my great-grandmother struggled with it as well, but they continued faithfull to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints or (Mormons) as the name many know us by. Washington Wing, was descended from the original settlers of Atlanta. The family still owns the old
Wing family fort house in Sandwich, Mass., which is believed to be the oldest house in the United States,

Comments: There is a bed and breakfast in Sandwich that is known as the Dillingham House. It is reputed to date from 1650 and was constructed by John Dillingham, younger brother of Edward Dilligham, who accompanied Deborah Wing and her family.

Comments: My mother did a great job of digging up family history before the advent of computers. I have extended her research quite a bit on the internet. I still don't have much on the Wings. My 4th ggrandmother, EUNICE WING, b July 8, 1797, in Hinsdale, Berkshire, MA, was married to GUSTAVUS PERRY, b Jan 4, 1797, in Wilton, Hillsboro, NH. Eunice's father was ELISHA WING, b 1755, Harwich, Barnstable, MA. He was married to ANNA BOARDMAN. Elisha's father was SAMUEL WING, married to MERCY WING. I haven't had much time to look around here, perhaps there is a clue in the information you have gathered. Happy hunting everyone!!

Comments: Have been to your page before, but never left message. My brother (Larry Wing) and I have only recently begun searching for our ancestors. Our ggf was James Henry Wing who was born in Ross Co., Ohio in 1841. It appears he was the son of Henry Wing and Elizabeth Snyder, who were married in 1838. This is somewhat confusing in that Henry's brother Grindal(?) also went by the name of Henry Wing. We think our Henry Wing was Henry Dudley Wing and was born in Canada. He apparently had two more wives afterwards. We would like to find out more about him and his other descendents. There doesn't appear to be much info on line concerning him and his descendents. Assuming we have the correct Henry Wing, his ancestry can be traced back to Daniel Wing of the "three brothers." We also have found that there were other Wings in Ross Co. Ohio in the early 1800's and wonder how they are related. For example, we found a Cornelius Wing married Elizabeth Crispen there in 1818, and Seneca Wing married Nancy Redd there in 1854. There is also an A.H. Wing listed in the 1850 census with a birthplace in PA. Anyone know who they are?

Comments: I have read this pg with great interest and renewed hope that I will find my WING family tree. My ggrandfather was Frank L. WING born 15 Nov 1846 in Hopkinton, St. Lawrence Co, NY. He served with Co H 17th Reg of Vermont Inf during the Civil War. He married in Winterset, Madison Co, IA in June 1880 to Sarah Olive Baker. Where he was during the 15 years between the Civil War and marrying in IA is as much as mystery as who his parents and siblings were. He was very good with horses. He had the following children - Effie May-Charles-Edna Bertha-William-Mary Adelia(my grandmother)-Fredrick-Margarette LaVonda-William Bryon-Frank-Frank Leonard. He died 03 Nov 1929. He was very closed mouth about his family. He say he was the "black sheep", mentioned bear hunting with a brother in law in Vermont, possibly a sister named Julia, and he could read and wrote a beautiful hand.Maybe somewhere someone is missing an uncle and it will be himAgain you site have given my hope.Thanks.....Johnnye Ann Lane

My father is Edgar Hamilton Wing; his
father was Raymond Clinton Wing (1896-1972); his father was Clinton A.
Wing (1870-?). This last guy, my great grandfather, was born in Maine
and was living there at the time of the 1900, 1910, and 1920
U.S.Census'. His maternal grandparents were Alvan and Cora S.
Morrison. He was married at least twice: to Annie about 1895 and Lucy
K. some years later. He had my grandfather, Raymond Clinton Wing, with
Annie and several other children with Lucy K. (the first around 1908).
At the time of the 1900 Census, at least, Clinton lived in Montville,
Waldo Co., Maine with his grandparents, his wife Annie, and my
grandfather Raymond C. At this time, they were listed directly next to
another household of Wings (which, in this case, indicates that they
were neighbors, at least), including Austin Wing (b.1872), his wife
Hattie Wing (b.1880), and his two daughters Beulah (b.1895) and Blanchie
(b.1899). I assume that these two Wing families are closely related.
In fact, Austin and Clinton may have been brothers, given their
priximity in age. I am trying to connect my great grandfather, Clinton,
to the founding brothers but, obviously, there are some missing links.
I'm thinking that Austin Wing(b.1872) may be the son of Austin H. Wing
(b.1838). The latter is the son of Stephen Landross Wing
(b.1801-Livermore, Maine), son of Reuben Wing, son of Stephen Reuben
Wing. I don't know where this goes after that. Any ideas?

I'll fill you in. My "official" name is, Lillian Theresa Wood,
but am called "Terry" since before my birth. I am Ann Elizabeth
Wood Borden's older, and much wiser, sister and am not quite
sure how much she has scared you with her Cyber Psycho personality.
I make sure we slip her medication in her mashed potatoes when ever
I can. I am one of the, what?, 10 people, in the world who are not
hooked up to the web. Hey, go figure. Some day I'll get here but
